Apparently, new theories about high frequency Gamma waves in the brain, (range 25-100 Hz neural oscillation) on average about 40 Hz, may have the same benefit of gaining a higher consciousness and intelligence, and a more aware and blissful (read: whole == interconnected ) state without worrying about the narcs dropping in unexpectedly.

The veiling or obstruction is selective, in Sign 18:101 the eyes or vision is circumscribed while the hearing/auditory system is fully engaged.
According to the resonance frequency chart below (validity questionable) the Verse number coincides with 18 Hz is with the knees slightly bent, within the range of the lower arm (16-30 Hz) and a couple of Hz below the lower range found around the head (20-30 Hz) and the eyeball (20-90 Hz), and the chapter number 101 is just slightly above the chest wall upper resonance frequency (50-100 Hz).
And as mentioned earlier, 18 Hz is a suitable frequency for the upper aural (sonic) range in humans, and Sign 18:101 clearly states that they ignore what they do hear (and most hearing people can hear at 18 Hz, but the accusation is that they refuse to listen).
By this reasoning then 101 is a set point for establishing the 'covering' or 'veil' over a person's ability to see or visually perceive any of God's Signs, while their hearing is actively engaged.
Sharpening senses has to do with unveiling the sight, the hearing, the perception.

Another reason is to put some people in a state of suspended animation, like the Men on the Heights (Al.A3'raf Sign 7:46), where whatever they were doing at present or had happened in their past lives was literally 'sealed off' (Sign 36:9).
A further reason is given so that such Men can literally have access to a higher dimension or become higher dimensional objects so they can see more of the field (that's why I now must insist that you all stay out of my bathroom--I've tolerated incursions into my kitchen, and even the bedroom, but really that toilet realm is not meant to be shared, unless you are all toddlers still learning how to bus your collective self)

- If the skin is taken to be the outer most walls (uppermost), then the setback would be subcutaneous in nature...
- It seems likely that synapse-dependent signals that act on specific dendrites must involve additional signals besides Ca2+, such as activation of metabotropic receptors or release of neurotrophic substances.
- If the setback involves the actual electrical signals, that would in principle involve synaptic activity, and possibly associated Ca2+ ion flux which is known to drive or regulate dendrite morphological responses (growth and stabilization) in mammals and birds, then this entails some type of slowing (or otherwise 'setting back') such a signal. This may be a response time adjustment or a phase shift or some combination of both.

While there is still some speculation as to the exact nature of the Dabatan that arises or is created from the Earth on Judgement Day, the inference is that it is akin to the Burak of olden times--a Lightening fast Steed/Ride that took the Prophet (pbuh) on His Night Journey (Ascension).
Sounds like none other than that UFO_USO of modernity.
And the emphasis in Sign 27:82 is that this contrivance, whether it be an organic (beast) or inorganic (machine) machination 'speaks', reinforces the important connection between hearing and sensation/feeling deep to the core or heart of a being.

The basilar membrane is a hydromechanical frequency analyzer that encodes high frequency sound at the base and low frequency sound at the apex.

The exact role harmonic auditory stimulation (beat, tempo, and pitch) plays in triggering neurophysiological, psychophysiological, emotional, and behavioral responses is not clearly understood. It has been shown that white noise exposure above 50 dB enhances sympathetic activity and there is strong correlation between LF/HF ratio (low frequency-high frequency ration) and noise intensity. LF/HF ratio corresponds to the sympathetic-vagal balance, indicating that noise intensity influences cardiac autonomic regulation.
Although the exact descending pathway responsible for the autonomic and cardiovascular effects of auditory stimulation with musical auditory stimulation are yet to be determined, the histaminergic H3 receptor is likely to be a part of this pathway.
The hypothalamic tuberomammillary nucleus (TMN) contains the cell bodies of histaminergic neurons, which release histamine and project to wide areas of the brain, including the SCN, which, like many areas of the brain, contains histaminergic H3 receptors.
The neural connection between the TMN and the SCN are implicated in playing a central role in the neural pathway between auditory stimulation with musical auditory stimulation and changes in cardiac autonomic regulation, the details of the mechanism call for further study.

The veiling or obscuring of the senses is a way of describing how someone or something is essentially 'cut off' or 'isolated' from their environment, ie., the whole field of information.
