I take it Yous guys are less than impressed with my arithmetic derring-do, since yer all so focused on her looks (not my looks, her looks, because I'm not supposed to take it personally).

Based on the above Scenario, our brave young soldier Tommy goes into his kitchen (at his father's house) just days before he was supposed to report to boot camp for deployment to some vacation spot.

Like any other young man, he goes through the kitchen door and heads due East to raid the refrigerator.

Surely there must be something to eat!

Some time after, Tommy dies of dehydration because his drill Sergeant couldn't allow a break for water during a strenuous exercise before ever getting deployed. Which causes Tommy's father a great deal of distress, and makes his good friend wonder 'what is it about men that makes them act like accomplished women?'

And during a pivotal moment in his father's coping mechanism failure, a sauce pot comes flying out of the NW pantry of the kitchen (no earthquakes reported in that part of town on that particular occasion) and lands right in the middle of the square kitchen (6 ' x 6').

Determine the rotational matrix based on the above scenario.

The Rotational Matrix

In Euclidean geometry, a rotation is an example of an isometry, a transformation that moves points without changing the distances between them. 

Rotations are distinguished from other isometries by two additional properties: 

1. they leave (at least) one point fixed, and 
2. they leave "handedness" unchanged. 

By contrast, a translation moves every point, a reflection exchanges left- and right-handed ordering, and a glide reflection does both.

A rotation that does not leave "handedness" unchanged is an improper rotation or a rotoinversion.

A geometric rotation transforms lines to lines, and preserves ratios of distances between points. A rotation is a linear transformation of the vectors, and can be written in matrix form, Qp. 

The fact that a rotation preserves, not just ratios, but distances themselves, it follows that...

Noting that any identity matrix is a rotation matrix, and that matrix multiplication is associative, all these properties may be summarize by saying that the n×n rotation matrices form a group, which for n > 2 is non-abelian. 

Called a special orthogonal group, and denoted by SO(n), SO(n,R), SOn, or SOn(R), the group of n×n rotation matrices is isomorphic to the group of rotations in an n-dimensional space. 

This means that multiplication of rotation matrices corresponds to composition of rotations, applied in left-to-right order of their corresponding matrices.

To rotate points in the xy-Cartesian plane counterclockwise through an angle θ about the origin of the Cartesian coordinate system use a rotation matrix R; each point is represented by a column vector v, of each point's coordinates (position). The rotated vector is then obtained by matrix multiplication Rv. 

Rotation matrices are square matrices (nxn), with real entries; characterized as orthogonal matrices with determinant 1.

The special orthogonal group SO(n) is the set of all such matrices of size n, generally not commutative.

Improper rotations, characterized by orthogonal matrices with determinant -1 (instead of +1) combine proper rotations with reflections (which invert orientation). 

The direction of vector rotation is counterclockwise if θ is positive (e.g. 90°), and clockwise if θ is negative (e.g. -90°).

Basic rotations:

Three basic (gimbal-like) rotation matrices rotate vectors about the x, y, or z axis... 

All other rotation matrices can be obtained from these three using matrix multiplication.

Every rotation in three dimensions is defined by its axis — a direction that is left fixed by the rotation — and its angle — the amount of rotation about that axis (Euler rotation theorem).

There are several methods to compute an axis and an angle from a rotation matrix one is based on the computation of the eigenvectors and eigenvalues of the rotation matrix. It is also possible to use the trace of the rotation matrix.

Some of these properties can be generalized to any number of dimensions. In other words, they hold for any rotation matrix...

Ambiguities:  Alias and alibi rotations

The interpretation of a rotation matrix can be subject to many ambiguities.

The change in a vector's coordinates can be due to a turn of the coordinate system (alias) or a turn of the vector (alibi). Any rotation can be legitimately described both ways, as vectors and coordinate systems actually rotate with respect to each other. Here, the alibi approach is used to describe rotations. 

The vector can be pre-multiplied by a rotation matrix (Rv, where v is a column vector), or post-multiplied by it (vR, where v is a row vector). Here rotations are produced by means of a pre-multiplication.

The vector space has a dual space of linear forms, and the matrix can act on either vectors or forms.

In most cases the effect of the ambiguity is equivalent to the effect of a transposition of the rotation matrix.

Two features are noteworthy: 

1. First, one of the roots (or eigenvalues) is 1, i.e., some direction is unaffected by the matrix. For rotations in three dimensions, this is the axis of the rotation (a concept that has no meaning in any other dimension). 
2. Second, the other two roots are a pair of complex conjugates, whose product is 1 (the constant term of the quadratic), and whose sum is 2 cos θ (the negated linear term). This factorization is of interest for 3×3 rotation matrices because the same thing occurs for all of them. (As special cases, for a null rotation the "complex conjugates" are both 1, and for a 180° rotation they are both −1.) Furthermore, a similar factorization holds for any n×n rotation matrix. If the dimension, n, is odd, there will be a "dangling" eigenvalue of 1; and for any dimension the rest of the polynomial factors into quadratic terms like the one here (with the two special cases noted). Its a given that the characteristic polynomial will have degree n and therefore n eigenvalues. And since a rotation matrix commutes with its transpose, it is a normal matrix, so can be diagonalized. 

Every rotation matrix, when expressed in a suitable coordinate system, partitions into independent rotations of two-dimensional subspaces, at most n⁄2 of them...

The sum of the entries on the main diagonal of a matrix is called the trace...

The large number of options is possible because rotations in three dimensions (and higher) do not commute. 

Reversing a given sequence of rotations results in a different outcome. 

This implies that two rotations cannot be composed by simply adding their corresponding angles; i.e., Euler angles are not vectors, despite a similar representation as a triple of numbers.

Chapters 88 Ghashya (Obfuscation/Cloudy; also Overwhelming, as in Preponderance of Evidence) and 98 Banyiah (Elucidating/Clear) may be referring to the Weather, but it is more than likely that these chapters are talking about Evidence.

Signs 88:2-88:7 describe what happens to those who thought they got away with the cover-up (a good assignment for independent reading) and Signs 88:8-88:12 compare the reaction and position of those who finally can benefit from removing the murkiness. And while Signs 88:13-88:16 seem to digress and go on about the Furniture, the subject at the heart of the matter is how Evidence Furnishes Proof.

If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised.

And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith.

More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised.

The Resurrection Body

1 Corinthians 15:35-37

But someone may ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?"

How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.

When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed…

1 Corinthians 15:51-53

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed—
in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.
For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality.

Resurrection In The Quran

Al-Baqara (The Cow) 2:259

Or [art thou of the same mind] as he who passed by a town deserted by its people, with its roofs caved in, [and] said, "How could God bring all this back to life after its death?" Thereupon God caused him to be dead for a hundred years; where after He brought him back to life [and] said: "How long hast thou remained thus?" He answered: "I have remained thus a day, or part of a day." Said [God]: "Nay, but thou hast remained thus for a hundred years! But look at thy food and thy drink-untouched is it by the passing of years ....And [We did all this so that We might make thee a symbol unto men. And look at the bones [of animals and men] - how We put them together and then clothe them with flesh!" And when [all this] became clear to him, he said: "I know [now] that God has the power to will anything!"

Al-An'am (The Cattle) 6:36

Only they who listen can respond to a call; and as for the dead, God can raise them from the dead, whereupon unto Him they shall return.

Al-A'raf (The Heights) 7:57

And He it is who sends forth the winds as a glad tiding of His coming grace-so that, when they have brought heavy clouds, We may drive them towards dead land and cause thereby water to descend; and by this means do We cause all manner of fruit to come forth. Even thus shall We cause the dead to come forth: [and this] you ought to keep in mind.

Hud (The Prophet Hud) 11:7

And He it is who has created the heavens and the earth in six aeons; and [ever since He has willed to create life,] the throne of His almightiness has rested upon water. In order to test you which of you is best in conduct. For thus it is: if thou sayest, "Behold, you shall be raised again after death!" - they who are bent on denying the truth are sure to answer, "This is clearly nothing but an enchanting delusion"

Abraham 14:48

On the day when the earth will be changed to another earth, and the heavens (also will be changed) and they will come forth before God, the One, the Almighty (the Conqueror) .

An-Nahl (The Bee) 16:38

As it is, they swear by God with their most solemn oaths, "Never will God raise from the dead anyone who has died!" Yea indeed! [This very thing has God promised] by a promise which He has willed upon Himself; but most people know it not.

Al-Isra (The Journey by Night) 17:50

Say: [You will be raised from the dead even though] you be stones or iron

Al-Isra (The Journey by Night) 17:52

on a Day when God will call you, and you will answer by praising Him, thinking all the while that you have tarried [on earth] but a little while.

Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage) 22:5

O MEN! If you are in doubt as to the resurrection verily, We have created [every one of] you out of dust, then out of a drop of sperm, then out of that which clings, then out of an embryonic lump complete] and yet incom­plete so that We might make clear unto you. And whatever We will We cause to rest in the wombs for a term set [by Us], and then We bring you forth as infants and so that you might attain to maturity: for among you are such as are caused to die, just as many a one of you is reduced in old age to a most abject state, ceasing to know anything of what he once knew so well. And thou canst see the earth dry and lifeless - and when We send down waters upon it, it stirs and swells and puts forth every kind of lovely plant!

Al-Hajj (The Pilgrimage) 22:6-7

All this [happens] because God alone is the Ultimate Truth, and because He alone brings the dead to life, and because He has the power to will anything.

And that the Last Hour is bound to come, beyond any doubt, and that God will resurrect all who are in their graves.

Al-Furqan 25:47

And God it is who makes the night a garment for you and sleep a rest, and causes every day to be a resurrection.

An-Naml (The Ants) 27:65

Say: “None in the heavens or on earth knows the hidden reality [of anything that exists: none knows it] save God.” And neither can they [who are living] perceive when they shall be raised from the dead

Ar-Rum (The Romans) 30:19

He brings forth the living out of that which is dead, and brings forth the dead out of that which is alive, and gives life to the earth after it had been lifeless: and even thus will you be brought forth.

Luqman 31:28

Your creation (of you all) is like that of a single soul; for God is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.

Fatir (The Originator of Creation) 35:9

AND it is God who sends forth the winds, so that they raise a cloud, whereupon We drive it towards dead land and thereby give life to the earth after it had been lifeless: even thus shall resur­rection be!

يس Ya-Siin 36:12

Verily, We shall indeed bring the dead back to life; and We shall record whatever they have sent ahead, and the traces which they have left behind: for of all things do We take account in a record clear.

يس Ya-Siin 36:51-52

And the trumpet will be blown - and lo! out of their graves towards their Sustainer will they all rush forth!

They will say: “Oh, woe unto us! Who has roused us from our sleep [of death]?” [Whereupon they will be told:] “This is what the Most Gracious has promised! And His message-bearers spoke the truth!”

Fussilat (Explained in Detail) 41:39

For among His signs is this: thou seest the earth lying desolate - and lo! when We send down water upon it, it stirs and swells! Verily, He who brings it to life can surely give life to the dead: for, behold, He has the power to will anything.

ق Qaf 50:11

as sustenance appor­tioned to men; and by [all] this We bring dead land to life: [and] even so will be [man’s] coming-forth from death.

Al-Qiyamah (The Resurrection) 75:3-4

Does man think that We cannot bring his bones together again?

Yea indeed, We are able to make whole his very finger-tips!
