The problem, Dear, is that You think I don't see You.


It may seem like I am whining and pining for my Late Father, especially now that Father’s Day has come and gone (how dolorous), but what You may not realize is that my Father is not as Late as everyone has been led to believe.

It seems like only yesterday, well, okay, it was the Summer of 2010, when my Father (my Dad) popped into my place of business and pretended to be duly impressed with how little I‘ve managed to accomplish during my, at best, inconsequential stay on Earth.

He sauntered into the shop, looked around for nothing in particular and said, “Nice place you have here. I’d like to find a place just like this to live.”

Thinking he was admiring the interior design, I offered to do the same for him should he settle on a place.

“No,” He says, “I meant I like this one. Would you know how much they’re asking?”

“Well, Gee, I wasn’t aware that they were gonna sell it right out from under me!” I think to myself, but what I say is, “We are leasing the area upstairs if you’re interested, but for work since this is a commercial space; I don’t think you can actually live here.”

He looks to his right, and clearly says aloud, “I Know she’s my daughter.”

At which point I think to myself, O, Gee, this must be my Dad, given his propensity to speak into the air where no one else is visibly standing around listening; there is no mistaking that genetic defect!”
I give him a careful once over, and think, “He does look familiar, but nothing like the fella I kissed goodbye as he lay cold and blue-tinged in his coffin back in ’94.”
Yet, His keen insight makes me think, “Well, I guess there’s no fooling You, Dad, given how I stacked on the pounds, and the swelling in my face and extremities turned me into a nicer smelling, non-drooling, version of Jabba-the-Hutt--I still couldn't fool you, could I?”

I actually became very self-conscious about my physical appearance at that point and tried to make imperceptible minor adjustments to my clothing to make sure, at the very least, that I was presentable; not because I was trying to impress him, but because I was disappointed for myself and didn't want it to be so obvious.

He kept chatting away about this and that and I tried to keep up with the conversation, all the while thinking, “Okay, while I’m not really sure how or why You’re here, and because what’s Yours is Mine anyway, say and do whatever You will, but please not another math problem out of You!” (About the only place I was ever allowed to make a mistake)
And, when He decided the conversation wound down to a satisfactory conclusion, He said his good-byes and promised to be back again.

“Hmmm, where have I heard promises like that before?” I wonder.

Since that last surprise inspection tour, I make more of an effort to look presentable throughout the day whenever I’m out and about. The kids don't mind my looking frumpled every so often, as long as I keep breathing, but if Dad catches me looking out of sorts, that usually spells disaster

My Late Father's name, (Gramps or GDad, to You) is Abraham, and he spelled it true to his heritage, Ibrahim, (roughly translated Free-Them or Their Freedom)--quite the activist in his youth, and the story often told in Sunday School is about Abraham Smashing the Idols, which often brings this type of imagery to mind:

21 Al-Anbiya (The Prophets)وَتَاللَّهِ لَأَكِيدَنَّ أَصْنَامَكُم بَعْدَ أَن تُوَلُّوا مُدْبِرِينَ 21:57
21:57 (Abraham said) "And, By God! I will Certainly/Surely/Ablate? your idols/fixations/images/copies/icons/Signs while your backs are turned (while you are unaware)!"


You can quote me on that, Sign 21:57, since I am afterall my father's daughter. If the conexion is not immediately obvious, the breakdown follows:
The word for idols is أَصْنَامَ which includes all the associated meanings: icons/statues/false gods/signs, etc. ;and Abe, in his own honest way, says he'll "make certain/sure" (لَأَكِيدَ, 'la-akeeda' ) of them while the pagans are not watching.
On the face of it this sounds like a safe bet to have them entrusted to Abe's care, because that's the part the idolators want to believe; that Abe feels the same way about the false gods (idols) they love and will 'take care' of them accordingly.

It is in the very next Sign 21:58 that we, the reader, see what Abe meant by 'take care' or 'make certain' of the idols/images/signs/icons/statues/false gods (which he apparently was not too fond of). Sign 21:58 starts off by stating that he 'ablated them' فَجَعَلَهُمْ جُذَاذًا ('faja3alahum jathethen'); the root for jathethen is 'jthe' جُذَ (the letters j + the). The linguistic manuever speaks to Abe's honesty as well as his eloquence, since that little (2-letter) word includes all of the meanings tabulated below (and then some):



Given how Abe took care of the things he found so irksome, including everything from defacing the statues, to whitewashing, to pouring acid on them, and whatever he saw fit to do to work this thing out of his system, must have called for a great deal of effort on his part; physical force, stress, intellect---he must have called on all of his resources to accomplish this task in the few hours he thought no one else was looking.

And now, I am expected to do the very same thing my Father did without breaking a sweat or getting a hair out of place. Calls for some assistance...eh?

The brute force tactics would have involved ablation as it pertains to physical destruction, like sandblasting, abrasion, and filing them down, that don't necessarily have to have a negative outcome since these same processes can be used to polish, scrub, and refine the idols, too, which was his duty to his father, the idol maker, to look after what his father produced as his means of livelihood; the weathering process related to ablation would have taken a bit longer since it would involve wear and tear, erosion, and general attrition due to the ravages of time, and since Abe is not a slave to time, he probably had enough time to see all this get done, too; the utterly destructive connotation to ablation is 'conflagration' which would have been a rather intense fire, but as we know, fire is also a way to purify something, like when smelting metals. So, in reality, since Abe did the brunt of the work in accomplishing this task, there is no need to have to cover the same territory my father did when dealing with false objects that call for my attention.

The more accessible methods to me would be those that involve usage/consumption including expenditure in time, money, effort, ingestion (or in my special case, indigestion, and I've covered that thoroughly), an asynchronous phase in an electromagnetic field (I was able to verify that my EEG slowed in some areas, including the beta and theta bands, and were indeed out of synch with 'normal' (everyone else's)); the leakage aspect (yes, that too) has to do with publishing this blog, which based on my own children not being able to find it, shows that it has some information that gets stymied in an attempt to keep the information from getting out. But the one aspect of living up to my father's name (expectations) is ablatation as it pertains to 'abstraction' in that 'breaking the Signs' it led (at least me, anyway) to develop some new concepts. {If anyone else deigns to claim any part in my turning an abysmally tragic event into this kind of positive, they should reconsider. Since as part of my conversation with my Dad, He actually gave me some sound advise. He said, "You know, there is a way to negotiate with terrorists. You basically say, 'Either I get it All, or you get Nothing!"}.

I take it You didn't like what I was wearing?--sheesh!}


And while Abe waited 'til everyone else's backs were turned to have at it, my personal take on the familial duty was to do it while they were watching (right under their noses)--thinking, well, if the job description called for diplomacy, Ms. Shirley Temple or Audrey Hepburn would have been the more suitable candidates, or at the very least, a better poker player.

Figuring that chances are the messenger never makes it out alive, what have I to lose if I was already handed my own death sentence ?(I still wish it didn't have to hurt so much). So, the conclusion was that going out with a little flourish would intrigue the kids (seeing the affect the 'love story' angle had on them, the levity from this counter approach seemed a tad more apropos).

Tesla Girls, Tesla Coils, She's My Tesla Goy-Um!

But Siriusly, an idea that is ahead of its Time is about as popular as the one that goes against the accepted Tide, relegating its proponent to Loopy (Round-the-Bend) status--without further introduction, I give You, Tesla!

bodies space becomes curved is equivalent to stating that something can act upon

Tesla's adamant refusal to adopt the little understood yet highly regarded (then as now) views of the vanguard of his day, put him instead in league with the 'luna-tics', aka Renaissance Thinkers and Prophets, or just your run-of-the-neighborhood crazy mother.

While there is no denying that both the Theory of General & Special Relativity do a serviceable job in explaining and even predicting certain phenomena, the very fact that the one necessitates the other hints that they each are incomplete which begs for careful vetting.

And while my undistinguished career is a dim bulb compared to either Tesla's or Einstein's resplendent contributions to Science, it hasn't escaped me that Tesla may have had a real concern with Einstien's Relativity and may not have been simply casting aspersions. It may very well be the case that space itself is not 'curved' due to the presence of matter (heavy objects) since what we are observing/experiencing is a 'projection' of the True Nature of the Matter under discussion.

By 'projection' I am not refering to our simplistic view of holograms, which may serve as a good analogy, but something much deeper than that. Some 'other' physical entity that due to its extra-dimensionality (hyper-space, or whatever the common catch-phrase-of-the-day is), we cannot gauge directly but should be able to deduce its presence much the same way similes, metaphors, and music can convey something as indeterminate as what someone else is feeling without our having to sense it ourselves.

The limited 4D space-time only allows us rare glimses into the larger picture. It's a little like looking out of the porthole (A Gardner Like That One above) of an ocean-going vessel and thinking that's all there is to the ocean. Enough wrangling with the words, time for the GeoMetry (gee, i'm a tree!) using a concrete example.

The orbit of the Moon around the Sun is a convex curve approximated by:
(400cos t + cos 13t, 400 sin t + sin 13t)

When expanded this yields:
160000 cos^2(t)+cos^2(13 t)+800 cos(13 t) cos(t)
+ 160000 sin^2(t)+sin^2(13 t)+800 sin(13 t) sin(t)

Which can then be simplified to: 160000 + 800 cos (12t)

And since we're not trying to land anyone on the Sun or the Moon, but simply doing this as an excercise to bridge the esoteric to the familiar, we can say the relationship approximates:

160000 + 800 cos (13t)
or about 40 + cos (13 t)

And, thanks to wolframalpha, the (exagerrated) curve for which appears on the right.

A few things worth mentioning about the Moon's orbit around the Sun is that it is essentially elliptical, it is locally convex, and when we consider the sidereal month of 27.32 days instead of the synodic month of 29.54 days, the ellipsoid is more like a tridecagon.

From studying the concept of 'unwrapping' curves from developmental surfaces, we learned a curve that lies on a conic surface and its ceiling projection are the same type, such that an ellipse projects as an ellipse, a parabola projects as a parabola, and a hyperbola projects as a hyperbola; although, their eccentricity may differ. And we know from observation that the radius vector (r) of objects with elliptical orbits 'sweeps equal areas in equal times'.

That last statement about elliptical orbits is how we were taught to think about orbits in school. Thinking in terms of 'uwrapping' and/or 'projecting' curves from developmental surfaces (such as cylinders and cones) simplifies this relationship since the areas are preserved in much the same way arclength is invariant, eliminating the need to consider the Time, and allowing us to focus on the spacial attributes alone.

The illustration on the left depicts a conic curve C with its 'ceiling projection' curve C0 (A ceiling projection of a conic curve is like having it lie on the surface of the cone and then the cone is 'popped' open like one would an umbrella). Conic curves projected in this manner have the following attributes:

1. a focus at the Vertex of the cone
2. a directrix L at a line of intersection of the cutting plane and the ceiling plane
3. eccentricity denoted by lambda = tan (alpha) tan (beta)
4. is a polar equation:


r (phi) = r(0)/(1+ lambda*sin(phi))


Having one focus at the vertex of the cone is significant in that we know for elliptical orbits the center of mass of "...the orbiting-orbited system is at one focus of both orbits" and the general assumption is that there is "... nothing present at the other focus."


However, in the search for 'missing mass', based on conic projections of orbits and the relationships between the viewing plane and the observed point P0, and what we know of the observable 'detectable mass', it would be safe to posit that the second focus is actually the barycenter of the 'missing mass' related to P0 ( which in Reality is a projection of the Actual point P; while it cannot be observed directly from the viewing plane, however, its 'gravitational' effects probably are what manifest as the presence of the secondary focus, which makes it appear as if 'there is nothing present at the other focus').

Conic C (figure above left) and its ceiling projection Co share the following relationships:

and is the same as eccentricity (lambda) s.t. r/d = lambda = tan

3. the area A of the projected curve Co after one complete
revolution (phi =2 pi) of unwrapping the curve C

(where: E= disk area of conic C, beta = its angle of inclination, S= finite lateral surface of the cone subtended by C and its vertex, alpha = the half-angle of the cone with vertex angle=2(alpha), rho = radius of the cone base, s= unwrapped arclength of C on the surface of the cone.



A generalized conic is a planar curve generated when a conic curve is projected onto a ceiling plane with a focus at the vertex (V) of the cone. In the figure above a generalized ellipse with period interval length 2pi/k, k=5.5, lambda = 0.22 is generated after 1 period only. In (b) and (c) the same generalized ellipse after 5 and 11 periods, respectively.
The figure on the right depicts an approximate annual orbit of the Moon around the Sun as a generalized conic; 1-year orbit is about 13 synodic months, or 13 periods.

{having run my one brain cell to the ground getting this far, time to move on to a refresher exercise otherwise known as "physics from lyrics"} And, yes, while the aim of all the above may seem nebulous, that's more owing to lack of time than understanding on my part, and the fuzziness clears right up given a little attention. A little like when expressing the simple sentiment "all roads lead to Rome" as a refomulated old Irish Blessing, "May all roads lead You Home", which could prove to be a Curse as much as a Blessing, depending on who You find waiting there for You.

The main idea is to derive the orbit as a generalized conic and consider that there is symmetry in the integral of a smooth function f over the closed boundary of a geometric curve S that is equal to the integral of the derivative of the function f ' over the figure S itself. {What she said, expressed succinctly in the equation below, and That's why Math!}


The explicit form of this relationship appears in physics time and again. The linear case as the Riemann integral (calculating the function at the endpoints of a line equals the integral of its derivative on the line); the 2-D case of integrating f over the closed curve bounding a surface equals the integral of f’ on the surface (as in Stokes’ Theorem and Ampere’s Law); the 3-D case as given by Gauss’s Law of integrating a function f over a closed surface surrounding a volume equals the integral of f’ throughout the volume. {I am no apologist, but You know by now that I pretty much forgot much of my key life experiences up to this point, especially the higher-learning part of it, but it seems I can finagle some understanding of it up to 9th grade (which includes Geometry & Trig). (And, don't be misled into thinking or trying to figure out this weird amnesia; that, while it may seem to be selective, at times I think it is a protection mechanism and at other times it may serve as the only polite way to avoid having to confront the outlandish; especially when random strangers 'say' things about me like 'why can't she remember' in the third person while they stare pointedly at me and know I am present. Since I don't know who 'they' are and none of them seem to ever bother with an introduction, I act like I don't 'hear' a thing--so, go right on talking about me to me like I am not in the room!) }

I am constantly reminded that 'it' is not about Me, and my Ego is not so grandiose nor so fragile as not to permit continuing to operate under such an assumption--that it isn't about Me. Can You imagine how paranoid I would be if I ever thought it otherwise, especially when confronted with song lyrics about "Every Breath You Take" (The Police).

So, let's just say, for argument's sake, that it is about Sting (the talent behind the aforementioned lyrics) and what Sting may have been thinking when he wrote the lyrics to "Ghost Story".

Since Sting is an Englishman by birth and speaks English as his first language and was an English teacher, it may be reasonable to assume that he means what he says and says what he means (in English)--making him one of the most literate songsters around--making his lyrics relatively easy to parse for our purposes here.

While the lyrics are profound and the experience of hearing Sting's rendition of "Ghost Story" quite moving, the answer to many of his questions is "I don't know." At the end of the song, the listener is satisfied with Sting's jump to conclusion, "I must have loved you."

Really? Is that all? Just an assertion without any proof? Just a series of observations and a lack of post doctorate studies in physics or math?

To demonstrate how well this model runs without Me, I will now show (Computer Command Copy on Write) that Sting unwittingly holds the answers to his own thoughtful questions. (Not by Magic, but by the premise that All Inspiration comes from God--that's why You should just tell me and not have to rouse Mr. Sting up from his sound slumber in the middle of the night to go multi-platinum with it.)


W/hat is= the force F, that binds the stars (Gravitational Binding Energy)...

W in physics/math can mean a few things directly applicable to the query:

W= watt (unit of Power); W= mechanical Work; W= dimensional (w(width) or ωx (frequency); W=Lambert W function; W = W Boson.


Just a cursory look at the lyrics indicates that they break down the physics in somewhat of a coherent way, in that Work is the amount of energy transferred by a force acting through a distance in the direction (vector) of the force. The units for Work and Energy are the same (joules), scalar quantities, and Watts are units of Power which is the amount of energy expended or work done per unit time (dW/dt)--a differential.

Sting's veiled, yet keen, insight is more evident when W is understood to be the Lambert Function, which provides an exact solution to the quantum-mechanical double-well Dirac delta function model which consists of a time-independent Schrödinger equation for a particle in a potential well defined in one dimension. Applications of the Lambert W function is ubiquitous in physics including, but not limited to, the areas of atomic, molecular, and optical physics.

And while W as width may seem out of place with the other W indicators, it makes perfect sense in this context when considering Feynman's assertion, and it seems only appropriate that Feynman be mentioned along with Tesla and Einstein:

  • "These notions of potential and kinetic energy depend on a notion of lengthscale. For example, one can speak of macroscopic potential and kinetic energy,
    which do not include thermal potential and kinetic energy. Also what is called
    chemical potential energy (below) is a macroscopic notion, and closer
    examination shows that it is really the sum of the potential and kinetic energy
    on the atomic and subatomic scale. Similar remarks apply to nuclear "potential"
    energy and most other forms of energy. This dependence on length scale is
    non-problematic if the various length scales are decoupled
    , as is often the case
    ... but confusion can arise when different length scales are coupled, for
    instance when friction converts macroscopic work into microscopic thermal
    energy."--Feynman

Feynman specifies "length" but the general meaning is a scale of 1-dimension, so, length, width, height, etc. are exchangeable. Of course, what Feynman is really talking about, in physics parlance, is the idea of fractals "As Above, So Below."

The /hat (^ ) operator, usually presented over a value or function means: Fourier transform; the element removed from a set; a unit vector (a dimensionless vector with magnitude 1); or used to denote an estimator or an estimated value x vs theoretical x. Read as x-hat or x-roof, where x represents the character under the hat.

Given the various interpretations of W above, the implications are:
  • since Work, Energy, and Power are scalar in our 4D space-time, in order for them to be understood as vectors, they must be moved up a notch (or 2 or more) in order for w/hat to make sense as a unit vector (dimensionally speaking); so, based on the 'lyrics to physics' these relationships hold true in higher order dimensions as non-scalars. {So w/hat if I'm wrong? The Theory Of Everything must include Everything from A Tree Grows in Brooklyn to the Kitchen Sink!}

    ..look, a joke can run its course and in this case been taken too far, but I have to say hearing "the wife" reference coming from strangers is offensive to say the least and utterly ignorant & insensitive to put it mildly.{I need to see my Father, stop paying bills & stop getting e-mails at the office from colleagues who verify my e-mail address is not ever in their send log}

If It Walks Like A Duck And It Talks Like A Duck, It's A Papaya

In a nutshell, the cunundrum scrutinized by many-a-sleuth since the Dawn of Civilization has been;
One Duck--But, Which Duck?

Purportedly, the first to pop the question were the Greeks--and it would have sounded something like:
Mia papya amma pya papya?
(Μια πάπια, αλλά ποια πάπια?)...

But, what's any of this to do with Gravity? One might wonder.


In Greek the query whether it is 'One Duck' or 'A Duck' is one and the same. Only interesting as far as 'One' indicates an exact Duck, yet any generic/indefinite duck will do for 'A Duck'.The word for duck in Arabic, by the way is, ' بط' , pronounced 'but' , or more precisely, 'butt'. A closer look at the image of the yellow ducks swimming past the view finder reveals a series of less obvious white ducks gliding by in the opposite direction. They are embedded in the 'negative space' defined by the more apparent yellow ducks.

The white ducks are what we would call a 'ghost' since they have no definite outline. And just like a ghost they trace a faint, weak or greatly reduced appearance, or possibility of something. But, butt, ' بط'...!
...where at first glance it seemed the marksman is about to miss their target, we now see that they are sighting their quarry and are right on target--an interstitial white 'sitting' duck.

In this example, the interstitial space (white ducks) is the gap or 'empty space' between spaces full of structure or matter (yellow ducks). It is what the Japanese call Ma (間) ...roughly translated as "gap", "space", "pause" or as "the space between two structural parts". Now, before you 'O, Ma!' me, or toss another 'grammar nazi' my way (an apparent euphemism for 'childbirth makes women scatterbrained'), You should know the reason I am bringing up the Japanese is not because you have a Japanese girlfriend at present. But, for the more important reason that while this 'interval' or 'negative space' is understood to be experientially 'concrete' in Eastern philosophy, in that its very absence or voidness is considered to lend value to the overall tangible structure or give shape to the whole, there is no equivalent single word for Ma in the English language--a somewhat serious omission.

The buzz words being interstitial and negative space, right? Somehow, that should bring us back down to Earth, so to speak, and the 'matter' under consideration--persnickity Gravity.

For denizens of the Planet Earth, 'Knowing' about Gravity is a little like 'Seeing' a Ghost.

Just like in the Duck example, where the ghostly Ma white ducks were plucked from the negative space or gap between the substantive yellow ducks, Gravity's ghost is traced by the Tide. Oceanic Tides can serve to 'map' Gravity since it has a direct affect on them.

For the example here, a regular ocean tide at the shore gives some insight as to the basic Geometry of Gravitational (wave dual) affects on a particular day at a particular time and particle location.

And just like Flatlanders cannot fully realize what Higher Dimensional objects and forces Really are in Lower Dimensions (Consider Flatlanders, Emily and Bob, projecting a hyper-cube...etc.); the best we can hope for is a reasonable inference of what these 5th, 6th, or higher dimensional things' true nature is based on our limited perspective of what we are afforded by our 3rd or 4th dimensional existence (remember Chicken Little?).

That is to say, we need to look for their traces in the 'empty' spaces.

The sine function, osculating circles, parabolic sand washes and the triangles indicating the carved sand bars were overlayed onto the image by drawing them in, not actually modeling them mathematically. These shapes, while selected intuitively, have geometries that can be explicitly related by arithmetic relationships.

The simplest case is imagining that a cylinder is cut at an oblique angle such that the cross cut is an ellipse. Unwrapping the cylinder reveals a sinusoudal curve. In a similar fashion, the circles, parabolas, and triangles are derived from conic sections and projections (unwrappings/unfoldings). Simple inspection of the underlying geometry for this moment in time by the sea shore--the osculating (kissing) circles, parabolic sand washes, the tide's sinuous wave front, and the triangles depicting the carved sand bars-- gives a good lower dimensional representation (affine) of Gravity's extra-dimensionality (interstitial nature) and just what it might Really be all about.

Having spent time mulling over the implications of a mathematically perfect Solar System, as solargeometry eloquently puts it, it would be reasonable to expect infinitely recurring self-similarity throughout the Universe. And, by extension since Gravitation is a part of the Universe, wherever we measure or observe its effects can serve as reasonable isomorphs in our 4-dimensional space-time domain to understanding Gravity's exact nature.

Self-similarity is the flip side of the Duality coin. And just like opposites, or duals, serve to balance each other and teach us something about the Nature of the World by comparing and contrasting these opposites, self-similarity serves as an identity scale from the very big to the very small (You Do It! I simply don't get paid well enough to justify working that hard, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discrete_Gaussian_kernel#The_discrete_Gaussian_kernel) to teach us about those things that we cannot access readily due to some limitation. In the case of Gravity, that limitation seems to be that it is extra-dimensional.

{It may very well be the case that self-similars do not only exist for inanimate objects, but People as well, considering the Quran has this much to say about them:
20:104 We know what is involved when the 'likes of them' (those mentioned before, those like them, their representations) say, ‘You went about (were broadcast/remained/stayed/tarried) in this way (method/system/fashion/channel/styling/mode/style/attitude) but a Day'.}

A good place to start looking for self-similars in Gravity's case is by comparing the Curvature of a cylinder to the curl of a Tidal wave.

A cylinder can be given by a flat metric, a 2-D rectangle (planar shape) that is curled (rotated by an angle 'alpha' about its axis) so that the short ends meet. When rotated, its various profiles present as lines, ellipses or circles depending on the viewing angle and axis of rotation.


Curvature characterizes how well Pythagorean’s theorem holds for spatial distances.

A space or space-time with zero curvature is called flat.

If an object/line/field/surface/n-space is ‘flat’ its curvature is zero, then Ω = 1, and Pythagorean’s theorem is valid.

If Ω >1, there is positive curvature (or locally convex), and if Ω <1 then curvature is negative (locally saddle, or hyperbolic--i read it, is it supposed to make me feel any better, or make me launch into a retelling of the story about ذو القرنين ḏū al-qarnayn 'the 2-horned one', as He was already mentioned in earlier posts 'where the 2 (horns?) meet').

In either of these two cases, the Pythagorean Theorem is invalid. The point here being that this type of thing is only detectable on a Cosmic scale (1E26 m); and sometimes that's how big the Truth gets, and they still callin' me a liar! (As an aside, do i get an invitation to the wedding the crew from 'paranoia' were planning at Starbux this morning 02-26-2011 @8:00am? That is to say, the guy on the phone was so loud about it, he should've invited everyone in the joint...I haven't been to one in about 5 years.)

In a plane, curvature is a scalar and in higher dimensions it is described by curvature vectors/tensors.

For a circle, the curvature is equal everywhere, and is defined as the reciprocal of its radius.

For smooth curves, curvature is defined as the curvature of the osculating circle at each point. (Osculating circle based algorithms can also be used to avoid a catastrophe.)

The expression for zα resembles x'= x cos α + y sin α for changing coordinates from the xy- system to the x'y'-system by rotating the axes through an angle α.

The tidal wave develops along the arcing surface of the imagined cylinder whose shape, depending on the symmetry of the acceleration, may be a circle, an ellipse or degenerate ellipse --an example of Tidal Forces as the Obstruction to an Acceleration Field.

This is readily imagined if one were to change the Observer's point of view, such that they are now sighting directly down the cylinder's central axis. One way to do this is to move the Observer's veiwing plane by 90 degrees by actually repositioning the Observer, the other way to do this is to 'tilt' the cylinder itself by α = π/2 to the original viewing plane.

In either case, the profile function is then given by:

zπ/2 = p(√(r^2- t^2 )

Which is essentially a circle given by:

z^2 = r^2 - t^2

Time and Tide are, respectively, bound to Space and Acceleration akin to the manner in which Polar coordinates are related to Cartesian coordinate systems. The relationship is difficult to fathom directly since information is lost (more accurately, 'masked') when moving from one system to the other. And looking at something (information) in one system makes it seem like something entirely different in the other, when in fact it (the information, representation) is essentially the same exact thing.

Words can only take us so far and that's why pictures were invented. Since it seems Gravity can only be encompassed from a Higher Dimension we can only Infer something about its inherent characteristics by its Lower Dimension isomorphic projection on Tides. In this case, Ocean Tides serve as the 4th dimension space-time model of Gravity’s true Higher Dimensional 'Wave' nature.

The Ocean tides give a direct window into the Wave nature of Gravity since modeling tidal behavior can serve as a reasonable affine in Euclidean Space to Gravity’s n-dimensional space affects on them.As we know Tides vary, Gravity, too, may not be as constant as we think, but also instantaneously variable and fluctuating (just like Energy, Light, and other Electro-magnetic radiation, and we have a basic understanding of how Matter interacts/correlates with such Fields).

The pictures can only do so much because they are still rendered in 2-dimensions but a good modeling program should be able to tease out the Unifying Physics of this phenomenon we call 'Gravity' and the finer points pertaining to fractals, duality, and that niggling issue of 'missing mass' (I mean, if we Know it's missing, doesn't that mean it Ain't?--O, Gee :-() that brings us back to 'There ain't no God'!--i kid, i kid, i jest i jest, b( i am soooo depressed)-er).
Some days, when the tide washes up in even more circular fronts, the effect is even more pronounced.

O, Gee, again! SomeOne already made it down this far in the post and is wondering where is the Quran tie-in. Here it is:
Surah 20 TaHa (طه )

طه 20:1

20:105 وَيَسْأَلُونَكَ عَنِالْجِبَا

فَقُلْ يَنسِفُهَا رَبِّي نَسْفًا فَيَذَرُهَا قَاعًا صَفْصَفًا 20:106

20:107 لَا تَرَى فِيهَا عِوَجًا وَلَا أَمْتًا

20:108يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَّبِعُونَ الدَّاعِيَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُ وَخَشَعَت الْأَصْوَاتُ لِلرَّحْمَنِ فَلَا تَسْمَعُ إِلَّا هَمْسًا


The first sign in this chapter is one set of the Disconnected Letters found in certain Chapters of the Quran. They are pronounced individually and generally do not comprise words that have any meaning, for that reason they have kept their integrity all these years.
For Sign 20:1 they are the letters Tta ط and Ha ه .

In a previous post there was some discussion as to the mathematics in the Quran, so going by conventional Arabic math notation the ط can mean 'Natural Number' and/or 'pi' and/or gematria value for tta being '9'. And the Ha is Euler's number which is the irrational number denoted by 'e' and has the gematria value '5'.

Now, it doesn't take much to combine pi and e to come up with a natural number. The general case is:

20:108 On a Day they will follow the Caller/Summoner, without Crookedness/Dishonestly/Evasion to Him, and the Voices will be Hushed/Overawed by the Merciful, and you'll not hear anything except murmurs/whispers/soughing sound.

Surah 46 Al-Ahqaf ( الْأَحْقَافِ , Curved Sand Dunes)
وَاذْكُرْ أَخَا عَادٍ إِذْ أَنذَرَ قَوْمَهُ بِالْأَحْقَافِ وَقَدْ خَلَتْالنُّذُرُ مِن بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ
 وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوا إِلَّا اللَّهَ
إِنِّي أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ 46:21

46:21 And remember 'Aad's bretheren when He warned his people among the wind-Curved Sand Dunes, and indeed warners came and went before and after him, saying: 'Serve none but God. Truly, I fear for you the suffering of a Momentous/Significant/Great/Extraordinary Day'.
